East Midlands historic monuments saved by green schemes
(24 August 2010) More than 140 historic monuments across the East Midlands are being protected by farmers through Natural England’s Environmental Stewardship (ES) schemes, according to a recent report.

For peat’s sake! East Midlands' bog under threat
(18 March 2010) In its report launched today, Natural England shows that extreme damage to the East Midlands' peatlands is dramatically decreasing its ability to store carbon. There are nearly 4,000 hectares of bare blanket bog peat in the Peak District alone, which makes up 1% of the country’s deep peat.
